Waistband first, fastened snugly at your natural waist. Push each buckle until you hear the click, then check it can't be pulled apart.
Newborn, 0–3 months: foam out. Use the newborn hold — full head and neck support, baby high, snug and facing in. Lightest setup, closest contact.
To about six months: foam still out, front carry facing in. This is the recommended starter position, airway visible.
Six months on: foam back in. Now you've got the anti-slip hip-seat shelf, and facing out or back carry open up as their head and trunk control catches up.
